Dr. Alaie is an assistant professor at New Mexico State University. Previously, he was a postdoctoral associate at the medical college of Cornell University, and an adjunct lecturer in the college of technologies of The City University of New York. He obtained his Ph.D. in engineering from the University of New Mexico. He also holds master’s degrees in optical science and mechanical engineering. His current research interests are in the areas of phononic crystals, microfabrication of polymeric systems, applications of machine learning in design and fabrication of miniaturized systems, and advanced manufacturing of medical implants. He is awarded an R21 Trailblazer grant by NIH/NIBI for research on development of novel transcatheter medical implants. His research has resulted in over 20 articles published in prestigious journals such as Nature Communications, Nature Biomedical Engineering, Advanced Functional Technologies, and ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces.
